I have been a fan of this band for 18 years. I loved their original, hard-hitting piano trio incarnation up through the early 2010s when I felt they were running out of inspiration. This new guitar and sax quartet feels like a new birth. The music seems to me more meditative and textured, still with sparks flying but a more searching, reflective mood. Long live The Bad Plus!

Saw them at Half Moon Bay and missed the first set due to a logistical error. I was intrigued and wanted to at least hear the entire album. I hope to see a video of a full live performance of the Glass Hours when one hopefully becomes available.

This record feels really fresh. The blend of various dreamlike textures, rhythms and overall flow of ideas is very captivating all the while never feels overloaded. It is somewhat like a daydream. Really a satisfying listen and a meaningful discovery to me!
